Copy Cat

Today was another great day at Summer Core. I really enjoyed the varsity level for learning more about Excel.

I also enjoyed tonight’s reading. You really have to take a step back and think about what you are about to do when using someone else’s work. While the author may not know that you copied that page from a book or you distributed 20 copies of a newly released song to your friends, you know that what you are doing is wrong. It’s much better to instill the ethical topic of copyrights into children than it is teenagers or adults. The copyright issue in today’s digital world needs to happen as soon as possible.

No rest for the weary!

What a fantastic day at Summer Core. After reading chapter 14, I still have one question: What is a “feed?” Is it the same as a link? I really enjoyed making a teacher blog and will choose using a blog in class over using a wiki. I think third graders will be able to read and comment on the posts as the year goes on with a lot of modeling and discussing the purpose of blogs. I think a blog will be very useful in our social studies curriculum.

A Brand New Day!

Today was the first day of Summer Core and we are learning A LOT! It’s amazing what you realize that you don’t know. We’ve started a blog to use in our class, learned how to insert video, and have gained access to a great deal of websites and search engine. This is going to be a great week and will give me a lot to think about for this school year.
